- Skills needed are good communication ability, driven and focussed personality, initiative and determination to succeed.
Conference Production - Devising conference concepts; formulating the intellectual content; and recruiting speakers.
- Involves a lot of desk and telephone research; pro-actively contacting industry luminaries and then putting together a concise, well thought-out and cogent proposal for a new conference. Having got approval, you'll need to write conference briefings and recruit influential speakers.
- Most conference companies expect a strong academic record evidenced by at least a 2:1 degree and often good 'A' level results in addition (straight A*, As ideally). Also needed are good communication and persuasive skills.
Media Planning and Buying - Instigating and implementing media-buying strategies at media-buying agencies.
- Skills required are numeracy, communication ability, attention to detail and good knowledge of spreadsheets.
Media Quantitative Research and Media Consultancy - Collation and analysis of established data sources using bespoke software, supplying clients-direct or as support to media sales or media buying teams.
- Skills needed are numeracy, analytical approach, good spreadsheet knowledge, and (usually) familiarity with media industry surveys such as BARB, NRS and TGI.
